President Buhari in his wake to reduce expenses following the collapse of the crude market further aggravated by the covid-19 pandemic cut administrative expenses by 25%. The main affected area of the adjustments are administrative which largely dictates contract for legislative and costs of running government.

If President Buhari succeeds, these projects will be cut from the budget as they are listed among “non-essential” expenditures to be eliminated from the budget.

“Every year a sum of N100 billion is appropriated for Intervention Projects of the lawmakers but not all the projects fall under “empowerment” and “capacity building” programmes the finance ministry’s memo categorised as “non-essential” expenditures for elimination.”

Although, health care which is suppose to gain the most attention considering the covid-19 episode was also affected with a minimal percentage cut.
