The Nigerian nation is one rocked with all negatives a country needs to survive, in all forms and ramifications, the country faces more than a dispensable negatives accrued to ten countries added over.

in the news around July 3, about 349 Nigerian soldiers wrote a letter of voluntary retirement to the army chief. The letter Referenced NA/COAS/001, quoted an Harmonized Terms and Conditions by which a soldier is under vow to deliver his service to his country.

It was gathered that the majority of the soldiers applying for the voluntary disengagement are majorly from the North-East theatre of operation.

The cited reasons for seeking the disengagement from the army is tagged to loss of interest and morale in their services to their mother land.

But the loss of interest didn’t just happened, it bothers on a lot of things attributed to poor weaponization of the military, stagnant and irregular allowances, and also the continuous loss of soldiers to Boko Haram attacks.

From Match till date, tons of Nigerian soldiers have been killed for fun by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

Early Match, the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, announced that 47 soldiers were killed by a bomb explosion triggered by Boko Haram in Gorigi near Allargano Forest area in Borno State.

Shortly afterwards, the army confirmed losing three soldiers while others were injured in a Boko Haram attack in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno.

In May, the insurgents also attacked an army location belonging to the 156 Battalion in the Mainok area with at least 10 gun trucks, killing five soldiers, while others were injured and the attack and killing goes on and on.

What to look into in this regard is how vulnerable the territorial integrity of the Nigerian nation could become following a repeated voluntary retirement from its regiment of army.

An anarchy is looming and the Nigerian government and its military head isn’t even in cognizance of the threat and danger such actions poses to the existence of a nation and it territorial integrity.
