The federal government is working on providing solar electricity to rural areas who have been rid of power since inception. Professor Osinbajo, who spoke at the launch of 100,000 Solar Home System in Jangefe community, Kazuare Emirate, Jigawa State, said the government was determined to bring power to un-served communities across the country.

The Vice President speaking further, applauded the management of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, Limited for playing a leading role in the Federal Government’s plan to provide electricity to 25 million Nigerians through off-grid connections to 5 million homes. This plan will further improve electricity availability across the country.

He described NDPHC as a catalyst in the process of connecting communities across the country to off-grid systems. The national grid is been bekaboured by various setbacks over the years and there's work in progress to shed it of the country's might power weight. One of the major problem the country is facing is epileptic power supply which will be widely addressed through this means.

Prof. Osinbajo said the government was determined to bring power to un-served communities as part of the Nigerian Economic Sustainability Plan of President Muhammdu Buhari’s administration.
