GOVERNOR WIKES’ INTEREST IN PRESIDENCY CHALLENGED ATIKU’S TOTALITARIAN AUTHORITY
The interest of governor Wike in the presidential election have totally changed the tone for Atiku Abubakar, the leading candidates for the party
The entry of Gov. Wike into the presidency contest come 2023 has changed former Vice Presidents' Atiku totalitarian opportunity of wining the party's ticket for the office.
The battle between Atiku and Wike was now shifting to non-PDP controlled states as the two men and others in the race battle for delegates from those states which remarkably, constitute the majority of the states.
However, Wike’s emergence did not mean that the governors were queuing behind him.
It was gathered that besides Wike, Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa was also weighing in on his chances. Okowa, who it was gathered was earlier avoiding the suggestions of a 2023 presidential run, was now reconsidering his options.
Aspirants who have so far declared interest in the PDP 2023 presidential ticket include Governor Bala Mohammed, (Bauchi), Governor Aminu Tambuwal, (Sokoto) Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and . Sam Ohabunwa and some others who are yet to show interests.
The showdown to the next year presidential election promises to be an interesting encounter for both parties in the country.
