The recent bullion van robbery further highlights why the Nigerian police force must be withdrawn from guiding bullion vans.

One cannot but feel sorry for the lost lives of about seven people who went down with the deadly occurrences in Ibadan on Thursday.

About four officers lost their lives in a shameful abandonment of law and order.

The bottom line is that the Nigerian police isn't well prepared to face hoodlums brave and equipped well enough to rob a bullion van.

This brought us to the question "Should the Nigerian police be responsible for protecting banks and financial institutions".

A private security system would've been well prepared for an attack of such magnitude.

The Nigerian Police needs to be exempted  from such duties of protecting bullion van with old and outdated arms and ammunitions

Financial institutions should find another means of protections with private security companies.
