Jackson water drought putting tension on the entire Jackson populace
Frustration is boiling over in Jackson, Mississippi, where the entire city has gone two weeks - two weeks - without safe drinking water. @CBSNews’ @JanetShamlian is there with the latest on the fallout from February's deep freeze. Unconscionable!! Just out and out failure of a system that should have had a backup plan. Yet again people are suffering needlessly.
The problem here is the complete lack of a response from the state, and the feds never approved the emergency declaration as far as I know, meaning there are no high-speed fema resources available. No nearly excessive water tankers, and mobile shower thing. I hope their luck at getting water restored is better than that of native communities in Northern Canada. We've got communities up there that have been without water for decades, with mining and oil poisoning everything and getting rich off it.
