path of the president and the Nigerian senate before Magu could emerge as the acting EFCC chair when he was appointed by the president on the 9th of November 2015, The federal government and the House of senate fought tooth and nail over his appointment as the acting head of the most senior officer which was set up by law to fight corruption.

The Presidency mix in this whole scenario is the part president Buhari played in appointing him into office, it could be remembered that the senate house outrightly rejected Magu when he was first appointed by the president, with claim of fraudulent activities. But the president wrote another recommendation letter to the senate claiming the presidency has investigated the matter and have complete confidence in Mr Magu’s innocence. This action subsequently saw him getting the office. But As the President is presumed to be a very upright man and doesn’t deal with corrupt people, the new revelation of his antics is a far bitter pill to digest in the long run.

Fast forward to Monday when he was picked up by the DSS to answer some corrupt allegations levied against him, he was accused of a dozen crime ranging from; theft, to stealing, illegal sales of recovered loots, properties, vehicles.

Specifically, 167 recovered trucks missing from his Port harcourt office, tons of cash money and subsequent recoveries could not be accounted for. He admittedly defiled all the rule which stipulates he reports to the supervisory ministry of every recovered loots on behalf of the government.

Some of Magu’s move are not just ordinary in the long run, he continually Ignored the requests in assistance to investigate and recover about #67billion loots by other agencies including the office of the IG and the presidency. Also during the cause of investigating him, he secretly moved some important government records/files from the EFCC headquarter between 12 midnight and 4 am Tuesday by his boys.

He Could not account for missing #37b as indicated in the submitted report of the presidential asset recovery panel headed by the chairman of the FIRS. He specifically mentioned N4b that he released to the Vice President based on directives the very day the president left the country for UK on medical treatment. This seems like a cover up or some attempt to muddle up some clean names to corroborate his unacceptable story

Magu was head strong on Monday when he was picked up. Investigators said he refused to speak on any issue they asked him, but he realized his arrest was based on facts and figures and not just some summarized claim, He started singing.

The president outrightly suspend him on July 7, over this humongous misdeed. As the head of an agency fighting corruption in the land. What I found daring is the president prompt action despite standing up to the senate for his nomination, unlike the Jonathanian Administration who kept corrupt officials in power despite huge corruption levied against them is a new leaf.
