Nigeria recorded 52 new cases of COVID-19 infection on Wednesday, bringing the country’s total to 214,270.

The war against Covid-19 is still very much active as the virus seems to keep mutating into stronger and prevailing variants. The newest Omicron variant is also causing worldwide panic as it has started to spread fast.

On Thursday morning, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), confirmed that 52 new cases have been recorded in 6 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) via a data sheet.

The Nigerian Public Health Institute also released the data showing the number of cases from each state with Lagos having the highest with 29 cases followed by FCT with 12. The other states include Kaduna (4), Bauchi (3), Kano (2), Ogun (1) and Oyo (1).

The NCDC also added that a new death was recorded on Wednesday, making the total fatalities in the country stand at 2,978.

With the recent news of Covid-19 spreading rapidly around the world again, it brings us to an unsettling but important question, will Covid-19 ever go away? We can only hope for the best possible outcome in the nearest future.
