OSUN STATE NEW SALARY SCALE INCREMENT IN VIEW

The Governor of the state of Osun Gboyega Oyetola has approved payment of New Minimum wage effect from November 1, 2020. He has also approved Annual Salary Increment with Promotion and Conversion Embargo of 2012 lifted immediate. He made the announcement today to usher Osun workers into a new month and to percify the agitating public about the poor standard of living made worse by bad governance and humongous spending on governance in Nigeria.

Following the outcry of the general public and the recent increament in federal worker minimum wage and increament in public school teachers salary which the president inaugurated on the 60th celebration of the nation's independent celebration, outcry has circulated around work force in the state and local employment payment scale for other state employee to emulate and follow suit on the decision of the federal government on federal payment plan.

Putting into considerations how low the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state of Osun is, and the financial labour of it workers on the entire expenditure of the state, embracing an increament that further weigh down the purse of the state might not look good to the ordinary eye, as infrastructures and other important aspect of state development might be a foregone conclusion.

Although the gesture of the state governor is a commendable action, it's also important to look into it deficits on other areas which the fund made available for the payment of the increament  might affect. Except  there's an increament in the internally generated revenue of the state, there's no way other governmental infrastructural facilities wouldn't be relegated to the background, even if it's for the time being.
