It was my pleasure to flag-off the construction of 33KV power supply line from Ile-Ife to Garage-Olode (Awolowo Town) and the rehabilitation of Ifetedo/Garage Olode 33KV power supply. I am delighted that we have now brought to an end the tortuous journey that left the people of these areas in darkness for over ten years.

The realisation of this project is another demonstration that we are irrevocably committed to uplifting the socioeconomic life of our citizens.

I thank our people in Olode and environs for their patience, understanding and sustained commitment to seeing that this challenge is finally laid to rest. I am indeed inspired by their zeal, hard work and the unrivalled commitment of their community leadership towards making this day of joy possible.

Let me also appreciate our partners, the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Ltd, especially the Executive Director, Mr. Ife Oyedele, for working hard with us to make this project a reality. We are indeed grateful for this fruitful partnership. Through this project, power supply will be restored to Ife South West LCDA, thus ending the unpalatable decade of power outage.

It will also power towns and villages such as Iyanfoworogi, Aye Coker, Aye-Oba, Wanikin Eleja, Egbejoda, Idi Obi and Ali Ahanran in this first phase. When completed, the project will cover the entire Ife South Local Government and the LCDA.

As you know, our engineers have commenced erection of electric poles concurrently from both Olode and Ifetedo areas. Ifetedo currently experience epileptic electricity supply. We therefore envisage that there might be problems in the future, hence, we want to link Ifetedo to the line under construction.

This project occupies a strategic place in our agenda to empower our communities to become more viable in contributing to the development of our State. As such, we are working closely with our partner, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), to ensure it is delivered at record time.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Federal Government for its immense contributions to the success of this project. Special mention must be made of the Minister of Power, Engr. Saleh Mammah, and the entire management of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) for their immense cooperation with us in bringing this project to reality.
