A year after retiring, Petr Cech returned to competitive action for the first time with the Chelsea U23s. The 1st choice U-23 stopper Lucas Bergstrom was left out for the clash having played for the U-18s on Saturday, with Chelsea unwilling to risk him burning out. Karlo Ziger could have played but because he is part of Blues 1st-team squad he must stay and train with them.

As no one has been able to establish what exactly the old shot stoper is coming out of retirement to take part in football matches, He might just be playing for fitness as there’s a limit to senior players that can play in the under 23, players recovering from injury play an u23 match in their recovery. Hazard, Gilmor, Drinkwater are all playing for the under 23 at some point to gain fitness.

Although the veteran shot supper was registered as a player this season, but it's a matter of time before we see him in big action for the blues. Although, he has to return and take a Covid-19 test, the idea was to build his match sharpness incase he is needed in the 1st team.
