The Returning INEC Officer announced Obaseki the winner after polling a total of 307,955 votes ahead of major opponent, Osagie Ize-Iyamu with 22,000. As the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC) announced the incumbent governor of Edo state Gov. Godwin Obaseki the winner of the 2020 elections, various individuals have been commenting on the victory, with the president been one of the first to congratulate him, the president further commends INEC, security operatives and the entire people of Edo.
Gov. Obaseki also thank the president for his neutral stance indicating his visit to the president prior to his defections back in June was a success. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Secondus also commends Edo voters for reading between the lines in order to bring victory to the entire people of Edo. The former Vice President said it's a new dawn and the beginning of god-fatherism in Nigerian politics. The PDP as a whole commends President Mohammad Buhari for allowing for free and fair election, stating that history will always be kind to him for his neutral deeds during the election.
Ike Ekweremadu also point out how a huge relief the result of the election was to the entire PDP camp. The former Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha in his reactions also inform how people have taken advantage of Buhari's trust, he said the good nature of the president by trusting people without asking question has become a back stabbing effects on his efforts.
