The southern governors meeting and outcome has set the northern part of the country on the edge. The demand from the governors are simple and made known through a communiqué signed by Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo State and Chairman, Southern Governors’ Forum,

The southern governors rejected the revenue sharing formula contained in the recently passed Petroleum Industry Bill, insisted on ban on open grazing and electronic transmission of election results and that southern region must produce the next president in 2023.

Southern Governors have prescribed a 5% sharing formulae but the houses and federal government had presented a 3% sharing formulae which doesn't go well with the southern governors.

Also, there position to ban open grazing which has not been approved by the federal government and the attorney general of the federation who insisted the position cannot be ratify into law remains a position needed to be addressed.

The southern governors also checkmate any attempt that might install a northerner into the presidential office come 2023. All these positions have put the northern oligarchy in a jittery and uneasy state.

A northern speaking on Channels TV on Monday, Mr Yabagi, who was ADP’s presidential candidate in the 2019 election said the meeting of southern governors is a gang up against Northern Nigeria, adding that the governors are not different from agitators calling for the balkanisation of Nigeria.
