It was a terrible day in Modakeke and Ife as about seven land grabbers were killed in one of Ife farms believed to be Toro. The story has it that  some land grabbers came from Modakeke to lay claim to Ife farmlands in Toro, the owners of the land who believed the Modakeke land grabbers  are infringing on their properties bring out guns and killed them.

The body believed to be mostly Modakeke indigenes were taken to the OAUTHC morgue, but was rejected by the mortuary attendant, this make the Modakeke indigenes who escorted the corpse to the morgue decided to take the corpses to the Ooni's palace in Enuwa square. But Ife youths and vigilantees are waiting them fully armed at the palace.

It was established that about sixteen okada machines were seized from the Modakeke invaders by the Ife vigilantes and subsequently taken to the Moore police station. These seemingly oppressive actions flayed some Modakeke Youth nerves and make them resorts to mounting road blocks around town.

The killing in Ife reserve area farmland has become a reoccuring factor. Reserve farms like Oyere, Ogudu, Nijasa, Iyanfoworogi, Abata-Egba, Omifunfun, Araromi and some other farms have witnessed reoccuring massacres, but there was no uproar as the victims are Ife indigenes. The Ifes have quietly take their sorrows to the heart and silently buried their dead.

The implications of these is that, they have been expecting and fully prepared for the Modakeke land grabbers which led to today's massacre. There's all indications that tougher measures will be place on movements in Ife as curfew from 6pm to 6am is already in place in the ancient city.
