The United States CDC and FDA have recommended the pause of Johnson and Johnson covid -19 vaccines due to case of blood clout concern  reported in some patient. The six reported cases were among more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine administered in the United States. All six cases occurred among women ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination."

For an average woman taking birth control pills, the absolute risk of a blood clot is very small: Only 1 in 1,000 women per year who are taking birth control pills will develop such a clot.  One in a 1000 is rather high and they keep prescribing these pills. Precisely. Much riskier than a potentially life saving, global pandemic ending vaccine. Yet nobody is on here shouting about the risks of the contraceptive. Or indeed the infinite serious but rare side effects of ANY medication.

It seems the ause is out of abundance of caution. 6 blood clots in 6.8M doses administered, pause will NOT have a significant impact on our vaccination plan. The U.S is pushing out 25M Pfizer and Moderna doses each week, J&J is less than 5% of the shots in arms in US. One more point on The pause now. Heparin is usually used to treat blood clouts. But in this regard, administration of heparin may be dangerous, and alternative treatments need to be given. So the pause gives the medical community time to come up with the best response to the defect.

My understanding is that they need to make sure clinicians understand what to look for and how to treat because it should not be treated with Heparin. It’s the appropriate step to build trust and confidence in the process. This is a rare type of blood clot and needs special treatment not heparin. It's actually a combination of both clotting and bleeding and must be treated correctly.
