A top virologist said there was no evidence the coronavirus leaked from her Wuhan lab. China's secrecy makes this hard to prove

Worries that the virus behind the devastating Covid-19 pandemic escaped from a Chinese lab have focused on the experiments of Dr. Shi Zhengli. Here’s what she told our reporters about her research and accusations that the virus came from her lab. 

It is incredibly difficult to just engineer a virus from scratch in a lab (which is why most bioweapons are existing pathogens, cultured and concentrated). If this is indeed a bioweapon it's an ineffective one. It needs extraordinary proof for the lab leak theory to be credible.

Bioweapons are meant to be a lethal and short-range weapon that inactivates a region in a country. Not a moderately lethal long-range "weapon" that inactivates the world including China. To release something like that would be potentially millions of dollars into a dud/backfire.

I'm not a scientist by any stretch, but I always assumed this leaked from a lab because the odds of it just happening to randomly occur in Wuhan, where tens of thousands of bat coronavirus samples are stored, is too big of a coincidence and defies probability. It's illogical.
