A tanker loaded with petrol exploded on early Sunday morning around 4:48am, causing some shops in the area to engulf in flames arising from the explosion of the tanker. The gory incidence took place in Oju-Irin around Lafenwa area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. 

Promptly so, the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) have gotten the situation under control before day break. The spokesperson Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident stating that the tanker was engulfed in flames due to negligence of people in the axis who were trying to scoop the remains of the spilled fuel which in turn sparked the flames.

The agency was able to control the flames while the tanker turned over and exploded,  fire fighters are invited to the scene to calm down the fire, they also instruct the public to vacate the premises ensuring that the necessary measures be put into full effect in order to get the situation under control.

Road users who went through the inward rounder axis from Lafenwa was offered alternative Olomore and Oke-Ata axis routes since traffic has been diverted from the scene of the incident.
