TROOST-EKONG JOINS CHAMPIONSHIP OUTFIT WATFORD
Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong has joined Championship side Watford from Italian club Udinese
Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has joined English championship side Watford from Italian outfit Udinese.
The Hornets announced Troost-Ekong’s transfer in a statement on Tuesday while also confirming the 27-year-old signed a five-year contract.
The statement read: “Nigerian international defender William Troost-Ekong has completed a permanent transfer to Watford, the Hornets are delighted to announce."
“The 27-year-old centre-half, who has 42 caps and represented his country at the 2018 World Cup, has signed a five-year contract with the Hornets and becomes the latest new addition to Vladimir Ivić’s squad.”
Troost-Ekong, who was born in the Netherlands, began his senior career in the Eredivisie with Groningen and Dordrecht before a stint in Belgium and Norway.
The enigmatic defender, who will wear the number five jersey at Vicarage Road, then joined Turkish club Bursaspor before pitching his tent with Udinese in the Serie A in 2018.
