US-North Korea at the Brink of War

The US and North Korea are at the brink of provoking each other to a nuclear war. Donald Trump confirmed US intent to “deal” with the North Korean threat in his tweet that “I have great confidence that China will properly deal with North Korea. If they are unable to do so, the US, with its allies, will! U.S.A”

North Korea likewise reacted in an implacable manner by issuing a statement on Friday threatening an attack on major American bases in South Korea stating that it could annihilate those targets in minutes. North Korea has warned that they are prepared for all-out war with the US and will hit back with a nuclear attack if provoked. This response comes after the advancement of a US aircraft carrier group towards the Korean Peninsula.

In response to the ongoing tension, China has warned that the tension on the Korean peninsula could get out of control as North Korea threatens to test a nuclear weapon at any time. According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, “the United States, South and North Korea are engaging in tit for tat, with swords drawn and bows bent, and there have been storm clouds gathering”.

China is more concerned about the aftermath of a nuclear war between the United State and an adamant North Korea. He further stated that “No matter who it is, if they let war break out on the peninsula, they must shoulder that historical culpability and pay the corresponding price for this”.

China therefore called on all parties to refrain from provoking and threatening each other and not to let the situation get to an irreversible end. To this end, Air China has suspended its operations between Beijing and Pyongyang amidst fears of an escalation.

Russia has reportedly moved military convoy of 8 surface-to-air missiles to the city which is within striking distance of North Korea. Russia and China see Normalth Korea as a necessary buffer state which needed to be kept floating for it own national security

Yesterday, the North Korea displayed a fearsome military guide portraying there readiness to wage war, the new uprisen in the region against the US may signifies another global war brewing to break out.
