WALES HEALTH AND SOCIAL WORKERS GET A BONUS PAY

BREAKING: It's in the news that all NHS and social care staff in #Wales will be getting a bonus payment of £735 to "recognise their extraordinary contribution during the #COVID19 pandemic". A caregiver willing to be anonymous stated that; We've been told it's to cover the basic rate of tax and NI contributions. And after deductions most people will get £500, @WelshGovernment says it's estimated the payment will benefit 221,945 people in Wales. That's £163,129,575 worth of bonus' to health/social care workers.

The Wales gobernmrnt is presently working with local authorities and trade unions to finalise all the details. It's further to £500 special payment for care home/care workers back in May 2020 (Which feels like yesterday). He says the new bonus will be made available to a wider group of social care workers.

So it's roughly £163,129,575 from the @WelshGovernment as they're covering the basic rate of tax and NI. The basic rate of tax/NI will be £52,157,075 which will be paid to the @hmtreasury. In May, the Treasury refused to make the bonus' tax fee, hence the £735 figure. Initially, there was some misinformation that this will be instead of a pay rise. That's not true. They're still reviewing pay for NHS staff but the Wales Governmrnt weren't fans of the pay review in for English NHS.

At least the Welsh showed some appreciation to their N.H.S. in Wales, even if it's considered pretty much the worst performing NHS in the U.K. But infortunately so, bonus’ like these don’t reach down to community pharmacy which serve an NHS contract. All community pharmacies have been tirelessly working since day dot and the big corporate bigwhits don’t see fit to reward those that work the hardest. 

Although tax free, it doesn't include those who will be paying in more from the summer if this giveaway shower get in again - and that will include NHS staff. Even NHS Bank staff working THROUGH the pandemic are not included, but community pharmacies are included. It would've  been great for the UK government to recognise this great offer, exempt Wales and this payment from the NI and tax liability rather than count the extra pennies into their coffers.
