Team GB’s two-time Olympic champion has withdrawn from the singles competition due to a minor thigh strain, Tokyo 2020 officers announced in a statement on Sunday.
However, the 34-year-old will continue to play in the doubles event alongside Joe Salisbury. "I am really disappointed at having to withdraw but the medical staff have advised me against playing in both events, so I have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the singles", Murray shared in a statement.
