The All Progress Congress governors visited the former president of Nigeria Dr. Goodluck Jonathan over the weekend to show their acknowledgment of his impact as the president of the nation between 2009-2015, and the role he played in Umahi's defection, but the opposition party (PDP) didn't take the visits in good faith as they believe the visits was to lure the former president to the All Progressive Congress ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The former president whose second term ambitions was cut short by the APC in 2015 has now becomes a hero following latest development in the Nigerian governing space, the way and manner the Buhari government have been ruling and directing the affairs of the nation has made the Nigerian populace sees Goodluck Jonathan as a good leader per excellence and everyone who has turned against him in the past has now turned back to him and subsequently regard him as a leader to be respected.

Also, the recent defection of the Eboyin state governor to the APC and the subsequent visits of four governors to the former president, barely 24 hours after David Umahi defected to the APC, was said to have upset the PDP leadership and gives an inclination of a means to cajole the former president to join the ruling party, considering the governor of his state's action.

It was also believed that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was crucially instrumental to the defection of Governor Umahi to APC, subsequently so, the PDP camp felt uneasy and couldn't turn a blind eye to the antics of the ruling party in preparation for 2023, the ruling party has recently fall under heavy criticism and have lost the people's support following the #EndSARS protests by it body language and actions in handling the matter and the populace has vowed to use their voting power against the APC at the poll come 2023.
