The recent increase in fuel and electricity by the federal government seems to be swept under the rug, although some associations and body promises to take up actions if the increase isn't reversed at a stipulated or given time, it seems the heat and Vernon the increment generates in its first week of announcement is fast firing down. The Nigerian Labpir Congress and some other recognized body have vow to embark on a nationwide strike action if the decision isn't reversed by the 28th of this month.

But the federal government body language suggests it didn't take the NLC threat too serious there's no single attempt to avoid this. It's very disheartening to see what the once vibrant and no nonsense association have now been reduced to. Aside from the NLC individual actors and political partisan who has come out openly to condemn such increment in the past during the Jonathan administration are no where to be found, hitherto; are all in the caucus that's making the decision now. These development only shows one thing, Nigerian politicians didn't give a damn about the masses, they are only interested in themselves and what and how they can amass public wealth to themselves and be comfortable.

This is the second time the Buhari administration is increasing fuel tariffs in the space of five years and it seems its one of the easiest of his policies outlined to be achieve simply because of the lack of opposition power. Should we intend to see what the labour congress intend to achieve come the 28th of this month, we will be terribly disappointed at the final resolution.

Only time will tell
