The American withdraw from the French open claiming a position of mental health
Naomi Osaka withdrew from the French Open. She was fined for not going to press conferences for mental health reasons: "I am not a natural public speaker and get huge waves of anxiety before I speak to the world's media.
This isn't about her will alone. It is about imposing will on someone viewed as subject. Same as any film when the protagonist cant be bought with cash. Or when any individual goes against the crowd. People are sheep, she isnt your average person, which is why she is where she is.
When you agree to become a professional athlete playing for exorbitant amounts of money, you realize you may have to do interviews. Same holds true for actors, politicians or anyone in the public eye. If you don't like it then leave the profession.
Why do folks act as though she doesn’t know this? She doesn’t want to do the press interview, the French open said you have to in our tournament, and she withdrew. What’s the problem? She was respectful and honored their rules.
I think its a sign that sports is not healthy for young people. They are rich enough. I mean the whole super league thing. Its gone too far. Its too commercial.
