WRAPPING UP 2019 OLOJO FESTIVAL IN STYLE

The 2019 OLOJO Festival is a wrap with a lot of talking points and major historical landmark subsequently created to further strengthens the significance and importance of the converted traditional festival, like all others, the 2019 editions is another one of the festivals in recent years laden with extravagant and expensive glitz and glamour with infused traditional and cultural heritage, adorned in celebration of the Yoruba traditional heritage.

The 2019 edition is mainly special and different from recent years because the royal regalia worn on the day by the descendant of Oduduwa himself Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) was inspired by the fourth Ooni of Ife, Obalufon Ogbogbodirin, who lived for over 500yrs and his reign cut across generations and principalities.

  The Ooni Obalufon Ogbogbodirin remains the wealthiest monarch in his time and till date, no other monarch in the land of the black skins could be adjudged to be richer than him even thousand of decades after his reign, his wealth was mostly outlined in the staff and cow horns he holds during his reign which was made of pure gold worth more than the entire palace of the Egyptian pharaoh at the time. The Obalufon was the only Ooni that didn’t taste the bile of death

  His wealth, longetivity, style, prosperity, way of rulership and expensive lifestyle seems to be the glaring factors behind the interest of the recent Ooni of Ife to be adorned the way he was (Obalufon) in this year OLOJO festival.

  Another lesson is the style of his dressing which is synonymous to modern day Benin Kingdon , this shows how monarch and their regalia share similarities.
