OSUN STATE GOVERNMENT REACTS ON YOUTH PROTESTS AGAINST THE EFCC IN THE STATE
The commissioner for youth and sport has received a mandate to address the harassment of youth by the EFCC in the state.
The Osun State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Yemi Lawal has revealed that his ministry has been mandated by the Osun State Governor, Alh. Gboyega Oyetola, to ensure no innocent youth in the state will further be harassed and intimidated by law enforcement agents.
The directives follows the protests of the youth in the state against the harassment of the EFCC operatives which has become a plague in the state of Osun. The youths barricaded major access routes in the town with burn fires carried their protest to the Government House, Oke-Fia, where they were addressed by the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode and the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Yemi Lawal.
Although, some have argued that the EFCC only focused on yahoo boys and scammers in the state, but it's glaring that the EFCC operations have been illegally carried out, due to the mode of their conducts.
Hopefully, with this directives the EFCC will desist from their extortion and harassment on the youth and proper and legitimate way will be followed in carrying out their investigative chores.
