Despite record rainfall across much of Northern California in October, wildfire season is not over in the state, according to fire officials.

Some of the most destructive fires in state history have come in November and drought conditions across much of California mean fire risks remain.

The San Francisco Chronicle and The Oaklandside report said that “global warming was essentially two-thirds to 88% responsible for the atmospheric conditions fueling increasingly destructive wildfires.

The Los Angeles Times and the National Interagency Fire Center reports that in 2021 wildfires have affected over six million acres in the US.
Fire season in California this year is so far the second-worst on record for the state with 2.5 million acres burned, according to data from Cal Fire.
