The state of Texas is putting in place it’s boarder where the US former president stopped
Texas is stepping up to do the federal government’s job. The state starts construction on a 1.7 mile border wall to fill gaps remaining from former President Donald Trump's administration.
There's a progress being made on the wall, which Melugin explained uses “state land, state money” instead of federal funding which was used in the time of president Trump.
The wall project is part of @GovAbbott's “Operation Lone Star” which launched in March to combat the alleged "smuggling of people and drugs into Texas.”
The effort has been heavily criticized by immigrant and civil rights organizations. Even Americans insists majority of drugs come through the ports, and not in the pockets of people walking across a desert.
