Fenty CEO and popstar, Rihanna named national hero by Barbados' Prime Minister Mia Mottley as the island becomes a Republic.

At the handover ceremony held at Barbados' capital city, Bridgetown, the Queen of England was officially removed as it's Head of State. Present at the event was the Prince of Wales who attended representing the Queen.

American singer, Rihanna was also present at the event and was honoured as the 11th National hero by the Barbadian Prime Minister, Mia Mottley. The Fenty CEO is the 2nd female ambassador to achieve this feat.

Mottley went ahead to rain several accolades on the fashion mogul highlighting her achievements, creativity and service to her hometown.

The ceremony also sees the inauguration of Barbados' first President, Sandra Mason.
